"Loving Hands"
2014

Loving Hands is a group of women who get together to knit or crochet prayer shawls, afghans, lap blankets, hats, mittens and scarves. These items are not only distributed to those who are ill in nursing homes, the VA Hospital and assisted living facilities, but also to the Monroe County Abuse Shelter, fire victims, or maybe someone who just needs to know they are not alone.

A blanket is given to every child that is baptized, all who are sick or homebound. Loving Hands also gives blankets to all High School graduates as they enter a new phase of life - living away from home.

If interested, please contact Sheryl Kolb at the church office (608) 378-3233 for more information.

Yarn, knitting needles and money donations are always welcome. All are welcome to learn a new craft or simply to get together for Christian fellowship and helping others.

DO YOU LIKE TO KNIT, CROCHET OR QUILT AT HOME?

If you are a person that likes to knit, crochet or quilt at home, and then donate your work of art to Loving Hands (to then be distributed to those in need), contact Sheryl Kolb at the church office. The church has a small supply of material (yarn, etc.) available to those interested in this worthy cause. The reward is great when you see the faces of those who receive these blankets.

The “Loving Hands” knitting and crocheting group usually meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 10:15 am in the Fellowship Hall.

  IN LOVING MEMORY

“You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”
