Operation Christmas Child

2013

Shine once again participated in Operation Christmas Child!

A very sincere THANK YOU for the many donations of toys, school supplies and hygiene items for needy children around the world.

Last year Shine packed and sent off 3 boxes...

...and this year, through your generous donations, there were 33 boxes sent!

Everyone can track the boxes that were sent and discover where they ended up! Go to the Samaritan's Purse website and follow the links. This is the tracking number: EZ7744060. We already know boxes are going to Madagascar, Kenya, and Zambia or India.

Above all, remember to pray for the children who will receive your gift!

~~~
UPDATE! The 33 shoeboxes that were filled last November at St. Matts went to Lebanon!
In the 2013-2014 season, 38,640 shoebox gifts from the U.S. will be delivered to children in Lebanon. Lebanon is the only country in the region that enjoys freedom of speech and religion. Lebanon is considered a refuge for Christianity in the Middle East and is the only Arab country where Muslims are allowed to officially change their religion to Christianity.
Operation Christmas Child
2012
From Katherine Enderle:
DECEMBER 2012
While Shine didn't meet much in December as the 6th graders were busy getting ready for the Christmas service, we did receive some good news - our shoeboxes that we packed for Operation Christmas Child were delivered to Kenya!
This year, 14,000 Kenyan children received boxes packed with toys, school supplies, personal hygiene items and more. Each child is also offered a Gospel storybook called "The Greatest Gift," and is invited to voluntary Bible study courses. Children all over the world are helped both physically and spiritually through these gifts
Check out the website at www.samaritanspurse.org. Look for news on Operation Christmas Child in Kenya, then see what else the group is doing - Operation Heal Our Patriots, cleft lip surgeries, the Post Resident Program of the World Medical Mission... The work is phenomenal! You can also read their "Prayer Point" quarterly, available in St. Matthew's library.
Please keep these workers and those who received their aid in your prayers!
"In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
John 16:33
From Katherine Enderle:
NOVEMBER 2012
We did a cool project in November 2012 that helps us to put the focus of Christmas back on Christ and on giving, rather than receiving. We participated in Operation Christmas Child, donating gift items for needy children around the world.
We packed - and I mean stuffed! - three shoeboxes with small toys, crayons, pencils, stickers, coloring books, toothbrushes and toothpaste, candy and all kinds of other goodies, then added our own handmade Christmas greetings. Our shoeboxes will be delivered by the organization Samaritan's Purse to children in countries like Haiti, Sudan or Indonesia, demonstrating God's love in a tangible way, along with a message of the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The national collection week for these shoeboxes is over for this year, but you can ship one any time to the main office, or "build a box" online, if you'd like to join us! Check out Operation Christmas Child and other programs at www.samaritanspurse.org. It's an inspiring website.
Please do join us as well in praying for these children who will receive these boxes (over 100 million since 1993!), that they may know true peace this Christmas from knowing Jesus at their Savior.
